Shrimp Etouffee

Ingredients

  • 1 lb shrimp, uncooked, peeled, deveined, tail off
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 garlic clove, chopped
  • 1/4 cup fl our
  • 2 TBSP Tomato Sauce
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 1/2 TBSP cajun seasoning
  • 6 green onions, sliced
  • Salt & Pepper to taste

Directions

  1. Melt butter in large skillet over med-heat
  2. Add onions and saute until transparent
  3. Add garlic, cook 1 min
  4. Stir in fl our until well blended
  5. Stir in water and tomato sauce
  6. Add shrimp and cook 2-3 mins
  7. Add cajun seasoning, salt and pepper
  8. Continue to cook until Shrimp turn pink
  9. Garnish with green onions
  10. Serve over rice

Notes:

The first time I ate this was in New Orleans and had crawfish instead of shrimp. This dish is amazing! It is a family favorite and if I don’t make it every month or so, I start to hear about it.

Spinach can be added to most any skillet meal. Throw a couple handfuls in about 2-3 mins before the meal is done and stir until wilted.
