Ingredients
- 1 pgk pasta noodles, rotini or penne
- 1 lb ground meat
- ½ lb turkey, chorizo, kielbasa or other sausage, cut into ½†pieces
- 2 cups chopped onion
- ¼ tsp crushed red pepper
- 6 garlic cloves, minced
- ½ cup red wine
- 5 cups marinara sauce
- ½ cup dried basil
- 1 pgk cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1 pgk mozzarella cheese, shredded
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 F
- Spray a medium sized casserole dish
- Cook pasta as directed on package, reserve 1 cup of pasta water
- In large skillet over med-high heat; cook ground meat, set aside. Discard fat
- Brown sausage, set side
- Sauté onion until softened
- Add crushed red pepper and garlic, sauté until caramelized, about 10 mins
- Add wine, cook 4 mins or until liquid is mostly gone
- Add pasta, marinara, ground meat, and sausage. Mix well
- Add half of cheddar and mozzarella cheese, mix well
- Spread mix into casserole dish
- Sprinkle remaining cheese on top
- Bake for 15-20 until cheese is melted
Notes:
Spinach can be added to most any skillet meal. Throw a couple handfuls in about 2-3 mins before the meal is done and stir until wilted.
The flavor of the sausage will have a direct impact on the dish; use a spicy more flavorful sausage to pep the dish up.
