I’m a self-taught home cook that loves to make simple, flavorful meals that people love.
In high school I turned my nose up when it was suggested that I take HomeEc. I felt it was too girly for me. Once I was cooking for two, I realized I needed to figure out how to make more than just a steak. Actually, I was told that a steak by itself does not make a meal. I dabbled with cooking for years but it was never love at first sight. Recipes were too complicated, didn’t produce the quality of meal I wanted to eat and made cooking a chore.
It wasn’t until I learned that the kitchen is a giant science lab that I fell in love with cooking. I realized that I could recreate the dishes I enjoyed when eating out and I could simplify the cooking process. I also figured out that with a little planning ahead the stress of cooking dinner each night disappeared and I began to find joy in cooking.
As I began to experiment, I realized that we all make cooking more complicated than it needs to be. The purpose of creating this website is to give other home cooks the same joy I feel in the kitchen. Hopefully by removing the stress of what is for dinner, providing easy to follow (and make!) recipes that are delicious, you can begin to enjoy spending time in your kitchen.
